Privacy Policy
Effective date: 16.07.2026Last updated: 16.07.2026
1. Who we are
SEEMEO is operated by Ana Todorovska ("we", "us"), acting as the data controller for the personal data described in this policy.
Contact: hello@seemeo.org
2. What this site does
SEEMEO is a collection of articles for parents of children who develop differently. You can read everything on this site without creating an account and without providing any personal data.
We collect personal data in only two situations: when you subscribe to our email newsletter, and limited technical data generated automatically when you visit the site.
3. What data we collect, why, and on what legal basis
3.1 Newsletter subscription
- What: your email address, the date and time of your subscription, and your confirmation of subscription (double opt-in record).
- Why: to send you newly published articles, occasional updates about SEEMEO, and information directly related to the newsletter. We aim to send emails only when new articles are published or when there is an important update.
- Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). You can withdraw consent at any time via the unsubscribe link in every email or by contacting us. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.
- Processor: our email delivery provider, MailerLite (MailerLite Limited, Ground Floor, 71 Lower Baggot Street, Dublin 2, D02 P593, Ireland), which stores and processes subscriber data on our behalf under a data processing agreement.
We use double opt-in: your subscription is activated only after you confirm it via the link sent to your email address.
3.2 Technical data
- What: when you visit the site, our hosting provider automatically processes technical information such as your IP address, browser type, device type, and pages visited, in server logs.
- Why: to deliver the website securely, prevent abuse, and protect against malicious traffic. We do not use this data to identify individual visitors.
- Legal basis: legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) in operating a secure, functional website.
- Processor: our hosting provider, Cloudflare, Inc. (USA).
3.3 Cookies
This site does not use advertising, analytics, or tracking cookies, and does not load any third-party resources. Our hosting provider (Cloudflare) may set a strictly necessary security cookie (e.g. for bot protection), which is required to deliver the site safely and does not track you across websites.
4. What we do NOT do
- We do not sell or rent personal data.
- We do not use advertising networks or third-party ad tracking.
- We do not build profiles of individual readers.
- We do not knowingly collect data from children. This site is written for parents and addressed to adults. The newsletter is not intended for children under 18. If we become aware that personal data has been submitted by a child directly, we will delete it without undue delay.
5. International transfers
Our newsletter provider, MailerLite Limited, is established in Ireland (EU), and subscriber data is processed within the European Union.
Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, Inc., is based in the United States, which means technical data may be transferred outside the EU/EEA. Such transfers are safeguarded by Cloudflare's certification under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and, where applicable, the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses incorporated into Cloudflare's Data Processing Addendum.
6. Retention
- Newsletter data: kept for as long as you remain subscribed. When you unsubscribe, your address is removed from the active list; a minimal suppression record may be retained to ensure we do not email you again, and consent records may be retained as long as necessary to demonstrate compliance.
- Technical logs: retained for the short periods set by our hosting provider for security purposes.
7. Your rights
Under the GDPR (and the corresponding provisions of the Law on Personal Data Protection of the Republic of North Macedonia), you have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you;
- rectify inaccurate data;
- erase your data ("right to be forgotten");
- restrict or object to processing;
- data portability;
- withdraw consent at any time (for consent-based processing);
- if you believe we have not handled your personal data appropriately, lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority — in North Macedonia, the Agency for Personal Data Protection (azlp.mk); if you are in the EU/EEA, your local data protection authority.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at hello@seemeo.org. We may request information necessary to verify your identity before responding to certain requests. We will respond within the time required by applicable data protection law (normally within one month).
8. Security
We apply appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect personal data, including reputable service providers, encrypted connections (HTTPS), and access controls where applicable. No internet transmission is completely secure, but we limit the data we collect to the minimum needed.
9. Future features
If we introduce user accounts or interactive features, this policy will be updated before those features launch, and any new processing will be explained at the point of collection.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent version. Material changes affecting newsletter subscribers will be communicated by email.
